X Games:

The X Games is one of the major annual events with a focus on extreme action sports. The games are played in two seasons, Winter X Games are held in January or February and the Summer X Games are usually held in August. The participants in the game participate to win bronze, silver, and gold medals, and prize dollars.   The location of the Winter X Games is in Aspen, Colorado during 2012, while the Summer X game location is in Los Angeles during 2009. The game has international competitions and samples all throughout the world that are organized at varying times right through the year. These exclusive games are shown live on ESPN and ABC television.
ESPN (2009) described the Winter X Games as a competition that is piled up with the greatest winter action sport athletes from all over the world, all participating for medals (gold, silver, and bronze) and prize money on an yearly basis. The competition is organized comprising of both day and evening events and the sports that are included are skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling. We must note that the first Winter X Games was held at Mountain Resort in Big Bear Lake, California in 1997. During the following two years, the Games took place at Crested Butte Mountain Resort in Colorado. In the next two years following that, the Games were organized at Mount Snow, Vermont. From 2002, the games had continuously been holding at   Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, Colorado, and according to ESPN they will still continue to   organize the game there through 2012.

Now, the ratings, attendance, and participation have grown over the years. Every year, a new game is found to be added.   In 1998 new sports were introduced including free skiing, SnoCross, and Ski Boarding.  In 2009 winter games, Shaun White wins first back to back gold in Snowboard super pipe.
