The Gay Games is the largest sporting and cultural event of the world. The game was first organized by and specifically for LGBT athletes, performers, musicians, and others. It invites participants including of every sexual orientation and every skill level. Ancient Olympic Games take the step to focus on to different games including regional and international games and sports events.

Gay Games were initially called the Gay Olympics. The game was started in San Francisco in 1982, as the innovation of Tom Waddell, whose intentions were to prop up the spirit of insertion and involvement, in addition to the quest of personal growth in a sporting event.

The Gay Games is not confined to any particular group; it is open to all who desire to participate, without looking upon to sexual orientation. There required no qualifying standards to participate in the Gay Games. The game can effectively bring together people from all over the world, many from countries where homosexuality remains unlawful and veiled.

The Federation of Gay Games aim at fostering and boosting up self-respect of lesbians and gay men throughout the world and to bring about respect and understanding from the world of non-gay, mostly through a structured international participatory athletic and cultural event that is to be held every four years.

The Games are put up on the principles of Participation, Inclusion, and Personal Best, and uphold an encouraging environment, devoid of intolerance, where participants attain achievement by their own measure. The Gay Games is much more than a tournament or cultural program; it is rather a gathering of the international sports and arts community that changes lives, attitudes, and the very temperament of the competition.

The 2010 Gay Games also called Gay Games VIII are planned to be held at Cologne, Germany from July 31-August 7, 2010.
