Games of the Small States of Europe:

The Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) is a multi-sport event. The GSSE has been organized by the National Olympic Committees of eight European small states since 1985. The Games are organized by the members of the Athletic Association of the Small States of Europe (AASSE). The members are from the various countries that are represented by autonomous National Olympic Committees, located in Europe and which have a population of less than one million. The countries participating in the game are Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco and San Marino, all of which have participated since the first Games in 1985. Another country that joined the AASSSE was Montenegro, following its 2006 declaration of independence, but sent no athletes to the 2007 Games in Monaco or in Cyprus, in 2009.

The 2007 Games of the Small States of Europe also called the XIIth Games of the Small States of Europe, were played and staged in Monaco from June 4 to June 9, 2007. The Games was controlled and administered jointly by the Monegasque government and Monegasque Olympic Committee. The 2007 Games were the first Games of the Small States of Europe without all eligible nations competing.

The 2009 Games of the Small States of Europe or the XIIth Games of the Small States of Europe were held in June 2009 among the various participant nations in the Games of the Small States of Europe. It was after twenty years that the games were in held Cyprus since after the first Games held there in 1989. 

The XIVth Games of the Small States of Europe will be held in June 2011 in Liechtenstein.
