The Francophonie or the Francophone Games is a sporting event of France. The game or the event is a combination of both imaginative and sporting events for French speaking nations. This game was organized for the first time in 1989 and that time onwards it has been held every four years. Francophone Games held partially as a counterbalance to the Commonwealth Games. The organization of francophone of the Jeux francophones de l’Alberta had made a long way from the bigger French youth organization of the province. Francophonie jeunesse de l’Alberta (FJA) was developed in 1972.
The FJA meet together and took decision to put together games for the youth generation of francophone. The first Francophone competition was held in 8 and 9 October, 1992. In 2003, there was a great celebration for the 11th year anniversary. In 2004, the organization had been constructed again by itself to make arrangement for varied games for all the people irrespective of all ages and not restricted the games for youth.
Francophone Games have a meeting among the five continents speaking French. The games were developed on the ideal and indication of agreement, diversity, and supremacy while combining sports and cultural competitions together. They consent to an exclusive meeting ground to thousands and millions of artists and athletes to perform their best skill in the ground and stating the uniqueness and diversity of the culture of francophone.
Jeux de la Francophonie are open to the sportsperson and artists of the 55 member nations, 2 associate member nations and 13 spectator nations of the Francophonie. The 6th Francophone Games will be held in 2009 from 27th of September to 6th of October.
